3D Artist of the Month December 2015
Tuesday, December 1st, 2015 by Nadine Obst
And now we introduce to you the winner of our December 2015 3D Artist of the Month competition: Peter Nowacki, CG artist from Poland, with his Star Wars inspired artwork "Far Far Away".
Peter started his digital journey using Photoshop and is now developing his skills in the 3D industry, mostly focussing on lighting, shading and rendering. For his winning picture "Far Far Away" he first created a digital collage in Photoshop: "This allows me to understand how textures in the 3D world work." He then connected Vray, 3ds Max and Photoshop and he is planning to spend some time on using Arnold for Maya in the near future, too. We asked Peter what the idea behind his work was and he shared the following: "I created this artwork because of an anxious thought I had in my mind: These days, children´s imagination is limited. The lightsaber is only a symbol to show that with a little imagination, even an old pipe in an old cottage could be your sword. You write your own fantasy story in your head not your gaming console!" This picture is the first of an upcoming triptych about childrens minds. We are very curious about the upcoming pictures and will definitely check his website for news.
Peter underlined he uses RebusFarm a lot, both for his personal and commercial productions: "It is really fast and easy to use, just like rendering in my own house. Just plug-and-play and in case I had any issues, the helpdesk was always really helpful and user-friendly. You gave an amazing gift to the whole 3D industry. Thanks for that!"
Peter had an encouriging advise to all artists which we don´t want to hold back any longer: "Never give up, learn as much as you can, observe and think critically. Surround yourself with creative people, never hesitate to ask for help, share your knowledge and think positive!". We´d like to thank Peter for his participation and wish him all the best for his promising future.
By the end of this year we are announcing the 3D Artist of the Year 2015 amongst all winning pictures. So, don´t forget to vote for your 3D Artist of the Year 2015! And if you want to be our next featured 3D Artist of the Month in 2016 and win 250 Renderpoints just visit our facebook page, upload one of your self-made 3D images and send us a personal message containing your email address.
3D Artist of the Month November 2015
Sunday, November 1st, 2015 by Nadine Obst
It´s about time to announce our November 2015 Artist of the Month: Osama Aly, an Egyptian artist working as Senior Interior Designer at IMPACT Interior Design.
Since he started his career as a freelancer in 2003, he has been working for several reputable interior design companies. His winning picture is called "Inspiration or Desperation" and was created using 3D Max, Photoshop and Corona Render, which he himself called challenging: "The main challenge for me was how will I use Corona Render, because it was my first time working with this particular program." The woman shown in this stunning composition is a 3D model with modifications made by Osama. He wanted to create a picture to inspire others with its atmosphere: "I have tried to create an image that makes you feel the smoothness and smell the fresh air through a few objects like the piano, the woman, the deer, the gramophone, the framed photo and the curtains."
While we believe, he did a fantastic job, feel free to check out his work yourself!
Osama has used RebusFarm for numerous smaller projects in the past: "The most I liked was the quick response and the customer service." Furthermore he let us in on a little secret: "I would like to thank you for selecting my work and it´s my great pleasure to be the Artist of this particular month, since my birthday is in November! Really, it will be the best birthday gift I have ever received in my life!"
Well, actually it´s our turn to say thank you! We wish you all the best and congratulations from the whole RebusFarm team! And finally, of course: Happy birthday from all of us!

Dan Lloyd and Element Animation: A Journey into Creativity
Monday, October 12th, 2015 by Trevor Hogg
Disassembling things such as TV remotes and figuring how they worked was part of the childhood of Dan Loyd who found his curiosity expanding into the world of cartoons. The process of discovery went from flip books consisting of stick men to PowerPoint animations to 3D creations with Anim8or. "Even though it´s about 10-15 years behind the industry standard applications, Anim8or helped me learn the basics of 3D animation modelling, rigging and lighting."
3D Artist of the Month October 2015
Thursday, October 1st, 2015 by Nadine Obst
We are happy to introduce to you our October 2015 Artist of the Month: Andrey Kobushenko from Russia.
Andrey has worked as a CG artist for the last 13 years: "My main job is art direction, rendering and lightning". He mentioned that most of what he´s creating is hyper-realistic and he loves rendering fruits, vegetables and various liquids. "I try not to miss a single detail. I tried creating such a render no one ever thought of being CG". We can only agree: His work "Raspberry Day" is so detailed & realistic, you´re almost able to smell the sweetness of every single berry! So yummy!
"Raspberry Day" was created with 3dsMax and rendered with V-Ray, but according to Andrey it doesn´t really matter which software you use: "It´s whatever you like, there are tools to create CG of every complexity. The main thing is to see the picture and analyze it. You need to clearly understand what you want to create and never compromise!"
You can read a detailed article about the "Making of Raspberry Day" here.
Also, check out his Behance gallery to learn more about the development process.
Andrey told us he´s just recently opened a studio called "MELT VFX " which will mainly focus on creating CG liquids. Check out his demo reel:
We wish you all the best and congratulations from the whole RebusFarm Team!

3D Artist of the Month September 2015
Tuesday, September 1st, 2015 by Nadine Obst
We are happy to introduce to you our Artist of the Month September 2015: Dušan Ković, a CG generalist from Novi Sad, a town in the northern part of Serbia. He created his bodacious work "Coffee Table" to push his lightning and shading skills further. He admitted: "In the beginning, I never expected to push the realism that far, and I was really pleased with the result."
Dušan currently works in Eipix Entertainment as a lead animator in the cinematic team. But he is interested in the wide set of areas in the computer graphics. "My favourite area is rendering, texturing, shading and lightning, but I also do modeling, rigging and some basic fluid and particle simulations." He gives free rein to his creativity and doesn´t commit himself to a certain subject. "I create art from what is most inspiring for me at the moment. From robots, tanks, sci-fi to the nature and still life"
Check out his wide range of creativity yourself: https://www.artstation.com/artist/dusankovic
"My main workhorse is Autodesk Maya, mainly because of wast number things you can do within it and I find it most comfortable for work." Aside of Maya, he used Arnold as render engine, Zbrush for sculpting, Quixel Suite / Photoshop for textures, and After Effects for composting.
